ACTION ON FILM
INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
Pasadena, California - USA
July 23 to 30, 2010
In the Spotlight this week is the 6th Annual ACTION ON FILM INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (AOF FEST). Frequently referred to by its passionate filmmaker and film lover loyalists as the "other festival", AOF FEST specializes in giving a voice to filmmakers who have been overlooked or ignored by other festivals.
In just the five years since its inception, AOF FEST has created a growing family of filmmakers and writers who know that their work will be respected and honored, and that they'll have top-notch venues in which to showcase their work to the world. Named one of "25 Festivals Worth the Fee" by MovieMaker Magazine, AOF FEST is frequented by celebrities and industry insiders from every facet of the entertainment industry. Recent guests of honor have included two-time Academy Award-nominee Talia Shire, Deborah Kara Unger, Kim Coates, and Anthony De Longis.
So far in 2010, total sponsored and cash prize awards are valued at over $80,000 USD, including software packages, hotel rooms, scholarships to Video Symphony, and much more. AOF FEST award-winners are frequently profiled in Hollywood Scriptwriter, and the next 50 submitters will receive complimentary, one-year MovieMaker Magazinesubscriptions. As an added bonus, all guest filmmakers attending AOF FEST are interviewed and receive the footage as a gift from the Festival. In 2009, nearly 150 HD interviews were taped and are currently in post or being delivered.

MISSION AND OBJECTIVE
The Action on Film International Film Festival aims to promote artistically and culturally significant film arts through education and exhibition to enrich the life of the community, filmmakers, and individuals who pursue careers in front of the camera.
MORE ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
AOF FEST has proudly hosted the premieres of a multitude of films that have gone on to much success, including Kim Coates' KING OF SORROW, Stan Harrington's BRED IN THE BONE, and Ron Perlman's ACTS OF VIOLENCE, among many others. The screenplay for the $20 million star-studded film STRENGTH AND HONOUR received early recognition by AOF FEST; writer Mark Mahon gushes, "Winning at AOF made the difference in me pursuing my dreams as a filmmaker."
Alum and AOF award-winner Justin Owensby writes: "Thanks to your hard work, I've been inducted into the WGAw through the Independent Writers Caucus. This has some pretty great implications for the festival, as AOF was THE festival they deemed prestigious enough for their criteria. I'll be doing everything in my power to promote AOF FEST to other writers and filmmakers!" And alum Stan Harrington adds, "If it wasn't for this festival, I wouldn't be anywhere now. As far as I'm concerned anything can happen when you're a part of the AOF Festival."
Great things happen every year at the filmmaker-friendly Action on Film International Film Festival...for the chance to be part of this year's event, submit your film or screenplay today!
