eurocinema Celebrates Global Cinema with the Launch of the First Ever On Demand Short Film Competition

Winning Entries to Be Showcased On Demand to 36 Million TV Homes in North America on eurocinema Beginning September 27 2011.

MIAMI, September 26, 2011 -- eurocinema, the only 24/7 channel dedicated to European films on North American television, has launched the first ever on demand film contest, the “Eurocinema Short Film Competition,” the announcement was made today by company founder/CEO Sebastien Perioche.

From September 23 through December 15, 2011, aspiring filmmakers from around the globe may enter their best short film works in the categories of Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Screenplay. The Best Film Winner will be awarded the Grand Prix, a $1,000 US cash prize and have their film showcased on demand for a minimum of three months on the eurocinema channel, as well as streamed online on eurocinema.com. The competition will be run and promoted via social media platforms.

“eurocinema on demand is a celebration of the very best in European film and content,” said Perioche. “The creation of this unique short film competition underscores our commitment to giving filmmakers an opportunity to showcase their work in the US and Canada via the increasingly popular on demand platform. Unlike most festivals, this competition offers winners significant exposure for their films to television audiences nationwide.

Winners in the Best Director, Actor, Actress and Screenplay Categories will also have their films showcased on the channel for a minimum of three months, reaching 36 million cable and satellite homes in the United States and Canada.
